AHREN DREW

Biography

AHREN DREW

Singer, dancer, performing artist Ahren Drew, born in June of 1972 has had natural performing ability since early childhood.  His love for the performing arts continued throughout his teenage years, and in the summer of 1988, at the age of 16, he auditioned and was chosen out of hundreds of other male dancers throughout the U.S. to be a Caravan Kid with Danny Hoctors Dance Caravan.  (This was a two and a half month U.S. tour in which he was taught extensive dance routines, and assisted in teaching choreography to students and dance teachers attending seminars and conventions).

In 1992, Ahren became privy to an audition through Variety magazine for a Tokyo Disney audition.  He traveled to Toronto, Canada for the audition but was unfortunately turned down.  In March of that same year, he moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to attend Point Park College for more extensive performance training.  By July, a most lucrative opportunity fell into his lap.  Ahrens singing and dance ability was brought to the attention of “American Entertainment Productions”, an entertainment company based in Ohio that contracted their shows around the globe, and with major cruise lines. During an unconventional singing audition over the phone, Ahren was hired by the company, and flown to Miami to begin work on his first of four cruise ship contracts.  It was at this time, Ahren began to realize his natural ability to sing, and the strength of his passion to create music.  In late 1994, while residing in the Netherlands during an extended break, he was noticed via a prior video, by the Entertainment Director of Carnival Cruise Line.  Carnival contacted Ahren in the Netherlands, and offered him a position.  He was subsequently hired by Carnival Cruise Line directly in 1995 for a large in-house production aboard the M.S. Ecstasy.   In between cruise ship contracts, Ahren spent most of his time in Europe.  Primarily, Amsterdam and Belgium, where he took time to absorb European culture, and develop a passion for dance music.

After completing his contracts aboard the cruise lines, he finally settled in Lansing, Michigan and obtained his General Associates degree in Hotel Management at his local community college.  In August of 2009, he made the decision to once again pursue a recording deal.

With the expertise and belief of Ryan Wert at Elm Street Recording www.elmstreetrecording.com, an amazing Independent record studio based in Lansing, Michigan, Ahren released his first single “Like A Planet” in December 2009, which is available as a free download via his website.  His album “Been A Long Road Home” was released January 26, 2010 and has already started to draw a humbling fanbase, and is generating significant interest within the industry.  Ahrens sound is eclectic, and portrays a unique blend of Latin and Euro undertones.  With catchy taglines, and upbeat melodies, his music has been crossing all age boundaries, and is becoming popular in various countries such as Brazil, Canada and Italy just to name a few.

This is hopefully what Ahren sees as the beginning of a successful recording career, and he is excited yet humbled to finally have an opportunity to share his music.  Ahren can also be reached via his artist profile at www.reverbnation.com/ahren72drew and by email at ahrendrew@gmail.com.   His CD can be purchased here as a digital download, and via bandcamp at www.ahrendrew.bandcamp.com for a nominal fee of $1.
